I always knew I was going to be a teacher, even when I was seven or eight, and that’s how it turned out! Once I’d qualified as a teacher, I taught in the UK and Spain before going on to writing and becoming involved in courses for practising teachers. After a few years out of the classroom, working mainly with teachers, I returned to teaching four years ago. I love teaching children; their spontaneity, enthusiasm and motivation keeps me motivated. If they like something, they tell you, and if they don’t, you get to know about it pretty quickly!

I’ve been working on the introduction of reading in English with seven and eight-year-olds over the last few years and the results have been very encouraging. I’m also interested in how children learn chunks of language and the transfer of this language to different contexts. I am currently working as Director of Teacher Training, Macmillan ELT, Spain.
